Enough.

Good morning friends!

A whole month has gone by since my last post and while I am sorry for that I also want to acknowledge that it’s okay to take a break. It’s okay to feel tired and not know what to say. Truth is I struggled to find words to share that would inspire and support you. I felt tired, restless, and wanting to work on other things too! I have so many ideas! And truth be told it feels a little bit like I failed. I set a goal and didn’t meet it. And so it can be hard to return and greet that with an open and understanding heart. But here’s the thing: It’s okay to fall behind, or take a break. It’s okay to not meet your goals and to try again.

It’s okay to fall and fail. Just remember that getting up again and fighting with all your might is everything. You deserve to be fought for. Reality is that you are the best person to fight for your dreams. There is no one on the planet who will be better at this than you. So you have to get up. You have to fall in order to learn and fall to get up and go again.

This powerful imagery here in this quote by Colette Warden explains it.

While you could sit in the cozy embers of the fire and stay warm that is not where your full potential lies. What you offer to the world by returning in full force from a fall is exponential greater than anything you could do from the embers. Your flame is bright. Your influence is great. Your presence is passionate and purposeful and you matter. Show up in full force as the whole damn fire. Light it up.

Now, you might be thinking, it’s hard to stay lit up like that all the time. It’s hard to be “ON” and sometimes the embers are just so nice and supportive. I hear that and I get it. But experiencing life in full force is better. Seeing everything with an excited and joyous heart is better. You are better when your heart is lit up. So do the things that fuel your fire and take care of yourself. You’re too precious to stay stuck without your spark.

With all of that said, your worth is not measured by the time you spend hustling, doing, and achieving. It’s not about how much you can do because chasing this can cause exhaustion, burnout, disconnection, and pain. The stress of being on the go all the time is absolutely not worth it. Enough is enough. You don’t have to work yourself to the bone to deserve a break or a rest. You are deserving of rest always. You are enough as you are. You are everything without having to do everything. Okay? Okay.

Rising like the whole damn fire doesn’t mean you do everything and tackle all the worlds problems. It means you stay true to yourself and honour your desires, emotions, boundaries, heart, mind and soul. It means you do the things that make your heart sing and show up for the person you want to be. Each day may be different it just depends where you are at. But that smile that lights up your eyes is magic. Do more of the things that bring that light into your heart.

Now, I’m goin to take a quick turn here as it’s International Women’s Day Friends! Did you know? Have you reached out to the incredible women in your life and said “I see you. I hear you. I support you.”? Good. Now keep your eyes, ears and heart open every day and pay attention. Or just listen. It helps. Now, this is an important day to recognize and uplift female voices, but I want to tie this into the idea of rest, burnout, and feeling like you’ve lost your spark. Ready, ladies?

Over the last few months I’ve been learning about the 4 phases that our female bodies go through each month. That’s right 4. Did you know our bodies, and therefore hormones, cycle like the moon? Men cycle like the sun with fresh new hormones each day but ours fluctuate over a 28 day cycle. There are times of the month where we should be resting and not pushing ourselves. There are times where we are more creative, outgoing, energetic, organized etc. Each phase works for us in different ways and if we can sync our lifestyle to our cycle we can thrive— without the PMS symptoms might I add. Did you know we aren’t supposed to experience those? We aren’t supposed to walk around in pain every month. How is it that I’m 30 years old and just learning this? If you knew this already, that’s amazing and I hope you are living and thriving as you cycle sync. If not here is a great starting resource.

I’ve struggled with these waves throughout my life. I would get on a role with healthy eating, exercising and my creative endeavours, and then I would fall off the track and collide with my “lazy”, or “undisciplined” side. This would happen over and over and it was so stressful and frustrating. I’m learning to navigate what my body actually needs and listening to it. Enough is enough. I now have patience and grace for myself as I know what my body is doing and what it needs. I’m not lazy or undisciplined; I’m allowing my body to rest and it’s scheduled in.

So on this International Women’s Day I encourage you to uplift women’s voices, lean into yourself and your dreams. Put pen to paper and make a plan. You can do anything you want in this life and you have the fire inside you to breathe everything you want into life. Learn about your body and how you can optimize your hormones. Remember that it’s okay to fall, take a break, and bounce up refreshed; your spark might need to regroup before it can light up the night.

More than anything else be gentle with yourself,

Katrina
